I am reading a book about Religions of the World and really enjoying it. I started with the section on Islam. I found it interesting, that Mohammed had done so many wonderful things for his people, yet we learn so little about him in the US.

I have found that really looking at the religions of others can help a great deal towards understanding other people.

Swimming has been paying off - when I started a few weeks ago, I could only do 6 laps. Now I'm up to 22! I'm feeling better and more energetic. I also gave up coffee, which helps!

I wonder how long it will be before I stop missing the smell of coffee...

It's cooled down a good bit - which is nice! The other day was toooo hot!

I've also been swimming almost every day, which helps. I started doing laps - started with just 6, and yesterday was up to 21 laps, and I did those 21 in about the same time I did 6 a few weeks ago!

So, I'm getting in better shape. That's always a good thing!

Wow! HAIL!

It was soooo hot today. Over a hundred degrees. MISERABLY hot. We walked to the store, and I could barely make it home! I would have sat on a bench if there'd been on to sit on. And it was only about 6 blocks... amazing how hot it was.

About two hours later it HAILED. HUGE pieces of ice fell in an ice shower. The biggest hail I've personally ever seen.

So, so, so strange!

I love wild weather, can you tell?

We are really getting a kick watching the sky here. In the evening, when it is getting dark, the kids particularly like to find shapes in the sky.

It's huge - the sky here is magnificent.

It's almost as if God was making a statement! :)

The weather has continued to be really hot. We're thinking about going to the Swap Meet today - but just for a little while. I can take the heat when I'm sitting at the pool, but it's a little more difficult when I'm out in the sun and no water in site!

We've had a wonderfully lovely sky the last few days. Totally clear, then a cloud front comes in, and there's no blue - just amazing shades of white and grey and rolling clouds. Quite impressive!

The cumulous clouds here are simply humongous. I've missed that living in Los Angeles. One actually does get tired of sunny, clear days, day after day after year after year...

Yesterday the sky was totally clear, until late afternoon. Then these huge, billowy clouds covered the sky. The kids and I laid back, looked up, and found all sorts of magical things in the sky. There were two dragons, a submarine, a Lear Jet (however it's spelled), a dog, and other wonderful imaginary things up there.

What a lovely way to pass the time on a hot summer day!

So I did twelve laps today - that's an improvement over yesterday.

I didn't feel sore at all, and I thought I might. So that's interesting! I am a bit sunburned however, despite the 45 SPF sunscreen I used.

How high does SPF go, anyway? What does a higher SPF mean? Do they concentrate the stuff more? Is it unhealthy at all?

Hmmmm...

It's been very hot lately. So I've been swimming. Ten laps today. Not bad! Especially considering that I haven't been swimming since last summer.

I love feeling sore muscles where I didn't know I had any! Swimming is such a great all-around workout!
